Bath Area Play Project

Bath Area Play Project provide a range of services for children & families across B&NES. In Twerton, based at the Hut on Newton Road, our Early Years Nursery & Pre-school runs in term time for children aged 6 months – 4.5 years and no more than 15 children per session. There is also Saturday Club for primary aged children with SEND and during the School holidays, providing respite for parents/carers and a fun and sociable time for the children.
We run free family Playdays across the area in the Summer holidays including Pennyquick Park for National Playday on first Wednesday in August.

First Steps

The First Steps nursery was set up by the Twerton community in 1991 to provide high quality, low cost childcare and family services to give local young children the best start in life, and has supported hundreds of children and families over the past thirty years. The pioneering group of local residents, health visitors and teachers recognised the need for high quality, flexible and affordable childcare to address barriers to employment and ensure that children had the very best start to support their learning and development.

First Steps (Bath) has grown and now supports around 500 young children, and their families, at any given time through our Twerton Community Nursery and Early Years Centre, Moorlands Community Nursery and Early Years Centre, and Bath Opportunity Pre School (BOP), supporting young children with additional needs from across Bath and North East Somerset.

Working families need access to affordable, flexible childcare so First Steps Community Nurseries offer a range of sessions, term time and all year round at an affordable price. They support families on low incomes with free meals and snacks in the nursery for their children.

Their Community Nurseries provide quality, inclusive childcare and family support to enable children to enjoy education and learning in a warm, welcoming environment and support parents back into education, training and employment.
