From The Land CIC

Together we aim to make this beautiful corner of our planet a haven for wildlife, plants and people.

We encourage collective, enjoyable work days & thoughtful observation, rather than thoughtless labour

  • Help days are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. 10am – 4pm with delicious shared lunches. Come & meet our great team of local people.
  • Several times a year we rally round to complete a big job (like tree planting or building the labyrinth). If you’d like to join one of these work weekends keep an eye on our social media where we’ll post dates, or just drop us a message! As always a shared lunch will be provided.

Together we grow chemical free flowers, vegetables and fruit, and are working on making land grown products, including juices, wreathes, green wood and willow objects. We dream of developing product lines: pickles, jams, pesto, medicinal mushrooms, comfrey tea and beyond. We will sell locally and ethically, delivering by bicycle powered electric vehicles.

We have planted trees and native hedges, cleared a lot of mess and now have a flock of rare breed sheep who look after our pasture as we look after them.

We have neighbours in this valley where sound travels very well, so please be courteous at all times, especially when entering and leaving the site.

We are grateful to many friends who go out of their way to help us with their effort, kindness and vision to enrich the land.

St Michael’s Church

St Michael’s Church in Twerton is one of the oldest churches in Bath and probably the oldest building in Twerton, but its community of people is definitely not a relic of the past. It is part of a family of churches called ‘Marlbrook’. As a growing inter-generational, socially diverse community of people, they are passionate and creative, focused on serving everyone in Twerton. With a big heart for creating spaces of refuge and belonging, the vision is to see lives transformed and empowered to find security and significance. Projects include Lighthouse Cafe at Rose Cottage, Lighthouse Community Centre, and Lighthouse Chaplaincy in the local School.

PeopleRCommunity

Peoplercommunity are a completely self-funded organisation whose aims are to foster a sense of community pride and cohesion in a diverse yet deprived area through education/arts and nature/ green spaces within the community.

The main focus is working with cross demographics of the community and rebuilding the reputation of the Twerton ward community by facilitating projects that install positive mental wellbeing in the individuals and the wider community.

The key element to our organisation is collaboration and communication; this has led to the most positive outcomes in all our projects.

Listening to the residents and their needs.

Blooming Whiteway

Blooming Whiteway is about growing plants – especially food, growing biodiversity & growing us as a community!
Based on the Whiteway estate we sit between Bath City Farm and open countryside – a great spot.
We are fascinated by what happens over, under and around the garden fence. We’re curious about how gardens connect with each other through the lifecycle of insects, birds, plants, mircrobes and more.
We work to enhance the biodiversity of the area and are dedicated to growing ecologically.
We’re part of entangled conversations and activities in Bath and beyond which address the Climate and Ecological Emergencies.

Creative Twerton (Little Lost Robot)

Little Lost Robot offers free, creative drop-in sessions at Creative Twerton, and Creative Radstock.

Creative Twerton is a free, safe space on Twerton High Street, led by the community. Set up for adults and children to flourish and develop their creative skills, using both practical and digital mediums, all tools and materials are provided, as well as free refreshments, hot food and lots of toys.

The aim is to demystify the creative and tech industry, and give underrepresented communities the chance to gain hands-on experience of making. Disused buildings in both locations have been selected as creative hubs, giving these spaces a much-needed new lease of life.

These drop-in sessions are relaxed, fun and accessible with the aim of building confidence and developing skills.

In addition to this, more direct routes into further training, volunteering and employment are on offer. This includes Artists as Leaders training, residencies and freelance opportunities, as well as short courses for anyone who wants to continue.
