This ‘Small Grants’ scheme is for local individuals, groups and organisations to access money (up to £300) and support to carry out projects that will benefit our communities in Twerton and Whiteway.
The project ideas will be put forward by local people and voted on by the community (we need you!) at a ‘Dragons’ Den’ event on Saturday 7th June 4.30-7pm at The Centurion Pub.
The ‘Small Grants’ (up to £300 each) will come from a pot of money raised by the community at Whiteway Fun Day 2024 (£745), with a donation from The Cobalt Trust (£5000). This pot is currently being held by Bath City Farm on behalf of the Twerton and Whiteway Community Network.
The ‘Small Grants’ are available for individuals or small groups/organisations for projects benefitting Twerton and Whiteway.
For groups and organisations, your income in the last financial year must be no higher than £50,000 to be eligible.
You will complete the application form (online, or download as a word document or pdf) explaining your community project idea. Paper forms can be collected from Kate and Sally via the office at Bath City Farm.
You can apply for up to £300 for a project that meets at least one of our criteria:
· Celebrating Twerton and Whiteway
· Making Twerton and Whiteway an active place
· Making Twerton and Whiteway a cleaner place
· Making Twerton and Whiteway a friendlier place
· Making Twerton and Whiteway a greener place
· Making Twerton and Whiteway a healthier place
· Making Twerton and Whiteway a more accessible place
· Making Twerton and Whiteway a safer place
If the £300 grant does not cover the full cost of your project, you can look for match funding (money from another source) and tell us about this on the application form.
After the closing date for the applications on 24th May, our Panel will check that your project meets the criteria, and you may be asked for more information if needed.
If using the Word or PDF form then please email the completed application to hello@twertonandwhiteway.org, or deliver/post a paper copy to the Twerton and Whiteway Community Network at Bath City Farm, Kelston View, BA2 1NW. Alternatively, the online form can be submitted electronically.
Fifteen individuals/groups/organisations will be invited to pitch at the Dragons’ Den event at the Centurion on 7th June, and we will provide you with guidance to prepare for the event. This is the first Dragons’ Den in Twerton and Whiteway so we will all be learning what works best for our community and planning future events, and welcome feedback.
There are ten grants of up to £300 available and the decision will be made by the residents at the event on 7th June by voting to choose which projects will be funded.
So, get ready to inspire, engage and entertain our local community with your pitch!

Our thanks to Knowle West Alliance and Radstock and Westfield Big Local for sharing their learning with us and guiding and supporting us while we’ve been developing our scheme.
Payment of the grant could be through production of receipts/invoices or via a bank transfer to a community group/organisation bank account with two signatories. This could be via a suitable third-party organisation bank account with their permission. If you do not have a suitable bank account or are unable to make purchases up front, we may be able to buy items for your project on your behalf. You must keep all itemised receipts/records of spend. If you are match funding your project, you will need to have this funding in place before we will release the grant.
We look forward to hearing how your project has worked and made a difference in our local communities. This could include videos, photos, feedback from people involved, videos, case studies, written report etc. These may be shared through our social media and newsletter so we will check with you for consent.
